Caroline Colombo, a French biathlete in the World Cup, announced on Wednesday (February 5) on her social media channels the decision to end her sports career.
According to the Biathlon Live portal, this decision is the result of health problems that prevented her from returning to competition from autumn 2023.
Colombo, which turns 29 in April, struggles with neuropathy (a state in which one or more nerves are damaged, often leading to a loss of sensation), which forced her to stop her career. The disease in particular affects her legs and causes constant fatigue, as well as pain.

“The time has come to close the precious chapter of my life and end the biathlete’s career. This decision was dictated by health problems. Pain is unbearable every day. My health no longer allows me to pursue sports dreams. However, when I think about my 58 World Cup starts, I feel a lot of gratitude,” she admitted in an emotional video posted on Instagram (see below).
– Even though I say goodbye to this adventure, I know it’s not a goodbye to the biathlon. I will always wear these memories in my heart. Thank you to everyone who took part in this trip,” she added.
