During the second round at Memorial Park Golf Course, Scheffler faced a challenging situation on the par-4 18th hole. Despite entering the day with momentum, his second shot landed in a bunker beyond the green. Despite a valiant effort, his par putt veered right, leaving him with a tricky 1 foot, 10 inches bogey putt. Unfortunately, even that proved elusive as his attempt also grazed the lip, resulting in a disappointing double bogey.
Scheffler, who had surpassed Akshay Bhatia’s previous record of 27 consecutive under-par rounds with an opening 5-under 65 earlier in the week, saw his remarkable achievement come to an end. However, his streak of rounds at par or better, which now stands at 29, remains unblemished.
While Scheffler’s streak may have concluded, it pales in comparison to Tiger Woods’ legendary feat of 52 consecutive rounds at par or better, achieved across the 2000 and 2001 seasons. As the competition at Memorial Park intensifies, Scheffler’s resilience and skill continue to captivate fans and fellow competitors alike.
