Wladimir Klitschko won’t be able to help Oleksandr Usyk on fight night, says Tyson Fury

Posted on April 11, 2024

WBC heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury, boasting an impressive record of 34-0-1 (24), brushed off the news of retired former champion Wladimir Klitschko offering advice to Oleksandr Usyk ahead of their undisputed championship clash. Fury, 35, took a jab at Klitschko’s past defeat to him, implying that if Klitschko couldn’t beat him, his advice might not be worthwhile. At a press conference in his hometown of Morecambe, Fury confidently stated, “If Tyson Fury can’t beat Usyk, he is no good.”

Acknowledging Usyk’s credentials as a well-respected fighter, Fury emphasized that the upcoming bout was strictly business and not personal. He expressed respect for Usyk’s achievements as the unified heavyweight champion and the undisputed cruiserweight champion. However, Fury highlighted the significance of size in the heavyweight division, emphasizing his physical advantage over Usyk.

Fury firmly stated his intention to face Usyk in a rematch regardless of the outcome, with a potential bout against longtime rival Anthony Joshua looming in the future. He reaffirmed his commitment to the sport, declaring, “This is my time, my destiny, my era, and my generation.”

Meanwhile, Usyk remained focused on his goal of winning, expressing a willingness to adapt his strategy based on the circumstances. “My strategy is win. Enough,” Usyk declared, underscoring his determination to emerge victorious in the upcoming showdown.
