Xander Schauffele has had a remarkable year, clinching his first two career major titles within a few weeks. He won the PGA Championship last May and triumphed at the Open Championship at Royal Troon just last Sunday.
The 30-year-old San Diego State University alum isn’t finished yet. Next on his agenda is the 2024 Paris Olympics, a prospect he highlighted in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“This one was special with both my parents out this week [at the Open]. Thank you Scotland for an incredible two weeks! To my team and sponsors I couldn’t have done it without you. Now time for a little rest before heading to Paris for the Olympics,” Schauffele wrote.
Adidas’ official Instagram account responded, “See you in Paris, champ,” while country music singer Jake Owen commented, “Congrats, playa! So good for golf. Well deserved.” Singer Mateo Gribbly added, “USA! USA! Bring home gold.” Other fans chimed in with messages like, “Look out, Scottie, there’s a new sheriff in town,” and, “The best swing since Big Easy. Congrats!! See you in Paris!” Another user urged, “Awesome, happy for you, and go defend your medal!”
At the 152nd edition of The Open Championship, Schauffele topped the field with a score of 9-under 275, finishing two strokes ahead of runner-ups Justin Rose and Billy Horschel.
So far in the 2024 PGA Tour season, Schauffele boasts an impressive record: 18 tournaments played, with 12 top-10 finishes and 17 top-25 finishes.
Adding a gold medal in Paris to his achievements after winning the Claret Jug would further solidify Schauffele’s extraordinary 2024 season.
