As a clip of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce singing The Darkness’ hit “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” went viral, the rock band’s frontman Justin Hawkins took to TikTok to share his own experience with Swift’s music. In a 90-second video on Monday, Hawkins described the “extraordinary” hospitality he received while attending the Eras Tour with his daughter and partner.
“There was a man on a golf buggy guiding us into the main stadium,” Hawkins recounted. “They put us in a lovely VIP area. I had Chris Rock on one side, Roger Federer on the other.”
Upon arriving in the VIP area, Hawkins discovered a handwritten note from Swift herself.
“What a thrill to have you at the show!” Swift wrote. “I’m a massive fan of yours and think ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ is one of the greatest songs of all time. I hope you and your family have fun at the show! Thanks so much for coming!”
After waking up to an influx of messages about the viral moment of Swift and Kelce singing his 2003 hit, Hawkins called the experience “heartwarming” and expressed his gratitude to the celebrity couple for the surprise. He added that his daughter “can’t wait to tell her friends at school.”
Reflecting on the event, Hawkins proudly declared, “I was just dad of the year—maybe dad of the century.”
Swift, wearing a denim corset, matching shorts, and thigh-high red boots, garnered attention on September 5 when she attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. This appearance came just a day after Kelce’s PR team dismissed rumors of a “comprehensive media plan” concerning his relationships following his breakup with Swift. Swift also made several appearances in a 30-second NFL promo video, where she was seen cheering for Kelce, capturing the NFL’s fascination with the global pop star.
