Bryan, who gained attention for his hit song “I Remember Everything” featuring Kacey Musgraves, stirred up social media earlier in the week with a now-deleted tweet that read, “eagles > chiefs / Kanye > Taylor / who’s with me.” The comment seemed to take aim at Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, and referenced Swift’s infamous feud with Kanye West, causing an immediate uproar.
In response to the controversy, Bryan deactivated his account on X (formerly Twitter) and took to Instagram to clarify his intentions. He posted a series of statements, beginning with, “I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night.” He explained that his tweet was a result of “drunkenly comparing two records” and acknowledged that it came across poorly. Bryan emphasized his appreciation for Swift’s music, adding, “I love Taylor’s music and hope you all know I’m human and make mistakes. I tweet stupid things sometimes. One day, I hope I can explain this to her personally.”
The singer also expressed regret for upsetting Swift’s fans, saying, “I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I offended. Love you guys, and I’m trying my best.” He revealed he’s been going through personal challenges and reiterated his respect for Swift as a musician, stating, “The last thing I want is for anyone to think I don’t appreciate what she’s done for music.”
In his final posts, Bryan reflected on the pressures he’s been facing and his decision to step away from Twitter. He praised Swift as a “force of nature” and added, “This year has been difficult for me personally.
